70th anniversary exhibition of the glassmaking department of the Applied Arts High School

It can be viewed until December 9, 2022, from Monday to Friday from 14:00 to 18:00.
The glass department of the Kisképző (Vocational and Applied Arts High School) is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year. This year is special not only for our glass department, but also for the entire profession, as 2022 is also the international year of glass.
In 1952, Júlia Báthory - an internationally renowned glass designer and industrial artist who received several awards both abroad and in our country - founded the glass department at the then School of Industrial Design, which has trained several generations of glass artists since then. Through the most characteristic objects of this 70-year period, the exhibition attempts to present the changes in applied arts and art pedagogy of each era.
The exhibition is also unique in that the presented material also provides an exciting insight into the most basic techniques and means of expression of glass art, from the earliest years to the present day.

Kertész Krisztina, the glass artist, conveys light-hearted and sometimes whimsical themes in her works at first glance. Her exhibition titled “Modellált poéma” (Modeled Poem) offers insight into the exploration and acceptance of complex emotions enclosed within glass, through the poems written by the artist herself. The sculptures and small artworks are not intended to interpret the poems; they can be appreciated as separate creations. However, they extract and model specific elements of thought and imagery from the poems, reflecting the intense emotional world and visionary visuality.
What do we reveal, and what do we hide? How well do we know ourselves and what do we admit? Are we connected to our inner world? Do we dare to embrace vulnerability? The more something is broken within us, the more we look outward and avoid introspection, sometimes even to ourselves. This exhibition forms a synergy of emotions and materials, much like the human experience itself.
Close to parallel - Biliczki Anett & Farkas Diána
We would like to invite you to Diána Farkas and Anett Biliczki's first duo exhibition "Close to Parallel" at FISE Gallery. The title reflects on the shared background and unique approach of their art and design practice. Previously, both artists have worked with different silica materials for example plaster and ceramics, although their primary medium and connecting point is the material glass.
Farkas will showcase from her 'Lore' porcelain vessel collection, as well as her newest wall reliefs.
Copenhagen-based Biliczki exhibits her series "Last Winter", which draws on nostalgic references to her reminiscence of the Hungarian winter landscape combined with Scandinavian minimalism.
The exhibition shows the diverse properties of glass and porcelain for instance translucency, fragility, and where the objects correspond to each other through materiality and the nuances of the color white – in a close to parallel manner.
In our talking series, the FISE Talks this time Csilla Szilágyi gives a presentation about her course in Pilchuck with Andrea Dezső artist from New York.
The topci of the course was 'Glass to paper, paper to glass', and the participant tried the printing on paper with glass.

Az üveg SZAK-MA
A Képző- és Iparművészeti Szakgimnázium üveg szakát Báthory Júlia, európai hírű üvegművész alapította 1952-ben. Célja szerint egyrészt a magyar üvegipar számára képzett üveggyári rajzolókat, forma- és dekortervezés oktatásával, másrészt az üvegművészet területén szerzett saját szakmai és művészi tapasztalatait adta tovább. A hazai üvegipar összeomlása és a változó szakmai és társadalmi környezet megkívánta az oktatás újragondolását, ezért az üveg szak tovább szélesítette repertoárját. Öt év áll rendelkezésünkre, amely alatt a szakmai és művészi alapokon túl tárgytervezéssel, az üveg építészeti alkalmazásaival és autonóm művek létrehozásával foglalkozunk. Igyekszünk a nálunk végzett diákokat a szakma széles spektrumával megismertetni és felkészíteni a kor kihívásaira

1. Mi volt számodra a 2015-ös év legpozitívabb élménye?
A kisfiamnak, Somának sikerült jó bölcsit találni, és végre a párommal kettesben elmentünk nyaralni.
2. És mi volt a legnagyobb bosszúsága?
Szerencsére ilyen nem történt.
3. Mi volt a leginspirálóbb dolog, ami 2015-ben történt Veled?
A közös munka Korai Zsolt visual artist-tal.
4. Mi okozta a legnagyobb meglepetést az elmúlt év során?
6 év és egy gyerek után a párom megkérte a kezem.
5. Milyen újdonságot próbáltál ki az elmúlt egy év során, és milyen tapasztalatot szereztél általa?
Megtanultam eszperantóul.
