In this íear for the first time the Design Duel moves to Mátranovák.
There is more time and more space to create and work.
The basis are the same as usually: the project is secret till the start, teamwork is obligatory, the project has a deadline, and only the materials and tools can be use which are given.
What can happen?
Maybe a plant under a bed...

Zsófi Zámori at work
In this series the members show their workbench: the place where plans come true, projects materialize.
Responser: Zsófia Zámori textile-designer
Zsófi is an early-bird, she is able and likes to work in the morning. If the inspiration is missing she makes some housework, for example pairing 100 socks of the family.
She uses various of material because the textile-designers regard everything as textile... so she uses paper, pencil, paint, yarn, a lot of different kind of tools... She likes the experimentation with alternative stuffs - now she is in fight with a 50 meters long chain.
Zsófi gets inspiration from the system of the nature, sructures, traditionally technics, and what is the most important: the material which she works with. It she still got the main idea and she got the material wich is fit for it the spectrum of the possibilities is open.
She doesn't need any 'dopping' if she is in flow. The problems are solved by talking and discussing, her economist husband is a very correct critic.
Next to work Zsófi doesn't like to listening music or anything else, but when everything is ready in head and in plans, and just the finishing comes she listens to audiobooks, classical music, Kispál, ZAZ, african native music, funky...
She would like to have a bigger worktable - or two with a lot of useful tools!

Whys: I chose them against the greyness of the wintertime
Highlighted object: the pocketbook with the Red Turtle
The story: I saw the film in last October. There were pocketbooks on every single seat - as a gift. This was a very kind gesture. And the film was beautiful and extraordinary, I liked it so much. So I have a personal experience with this object.

KIMAGU - at work
In this series the members show their workbench: the place where plans come true, projects materialize.
Responser: MÁRTON GYULA KISS alias KIMAGU, graphic designer, illustrator
Marci likes working in the evening or at night - he said it is not so surprising. But since he works in a full-time job he's active night and day.
Sometimes he uses traditionally hand-drawing techniques but his most used 'tool' is a Wacom tablet.
He is always searching for inspiration, there're lot of things could make impression to him: photography, fashion, artworks, architecture, public life, philosophy, nature, music, etc. He spends time to browse on Behance or on Pinterest. Marci doesn't like tea or coffee to work..
If he has deadlock starts to work with something else or tries to have a 'reset' by sport.
Marci uses the music as a conscious way of inspiration, he knows which music fit to which theme. His musical intrests gets a broad spectrum from the metal to synthie-pop.
His wish: a bigger worktable; but the biggest wish: a Wacom Cintiq tablet!

Retrospective question about the year 2016 with Dóra Dés-Kertész metalsmith
1. Best experience of 2016
The Jewelry Night in November. It was the result of the hard work of the organisers team - Kinga Huber, Orsi Kecskés, Szilvi Kerékgyártó, Krisztina Stomfai and Fanni Vékony. I'm proud of the gorgeous exhibitions, the new works, and the many visitors.
2. And the worst...
There wasn't just a one and big annoyance but little bad things continuously.
3. The most inspiring case from tha last year
The metalsmith art camp at Mátranovák where I was able to step out of the daily routine.
4. New experience
I started to work at home. This is a very new situation for me, I try to keep balance between work and private life.
5. New Year's resolution
I've many plans and projects, but I'm not sure all would be realized, and maybe I need some self-improvement about time-management.
