Transformation - Exhibition of the creative jewelry specialization diploma of the Fashion and Textile Department of the Budapest Metropolitan University
Opening on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at 6 p.m.
At the opening, Dr. György Árpád Hunor delivers the greeting
university assistant professor, METU design artist, head of the master's program
It can be viewed until July 19, 2024, from Monday to Friday from 14:00 to 18:00
Within the framework of the three-year training, the emphasis was on design training, where after the first foundation year, students learned the technologies of leather and metalwork and learned about a complex negotiation process. The main goal of the training is to find individual paths and to deepen the designer's thinking, for which the METU Fashion and Textile Department provided many special cooperation opportunities. It provided an opportunity for newly graduated students.
The exhibition titled Transformation presents the diploma theses of the Creative Jewelry specialization students who graduated in 2024 and the most important points of the path they have taken.

Supervisor: Anna Börcsök
Consultant: Judit Ducsai, László Marosi
Alternative keepsake collection consisting of 3 pieces of jewelry and 3 storage cases. What would happen if the moment was lost, if it was erased? What will we remember for posterity? In what alternative amulets and talismans would the present age of humanity be preserved? In what rocks would people find the imprints of a certain generation in the future?

The final task examines the relationship between light and form known in architecture. With the help of translucent raw materials, the bracelets create an effect that deforms and highlights the proportions of the chosen body part, showing new dimensions under the influence of light. It is complemented by columns that store jewelry, which shape the view into a sculpture.
Chiara Musso
Illusions, 2023
Supervisor: Katalin Jermakov
Consultant: Orsolya Poppre
He investigated the impact of expectations and social pressure on people's body image and self-image. Many people struggle with symptoms of body dissatisfaction and body dysmorphia, which have a negative impact on their psychological and emotional well-being. In the designed objects, bodily defects are presented in a playful and caricature manner, thereby pointing out that every person has unique features and beauty flaws. Accessories encourage people to dare to step out of the rigid framework of beauty ideals and accept and celebrate their own uniqueness.

A jewel within a jewel, 2024
Supervisor: Judit Ducsai
Consultant: Anna Börcsök
The final assignment is about the relationship between time and sport. The jewelry in the jewelry series consists of four bronze jewelry and the wooden cases organically connected to them. The pieces intended for athletes function as jewelry in which, unlike a medal, they can be worn on a daily basis. The wearer of the jewelry is inspired by personalized memories under the QR code inside the object, their own athletic successes, and inner spiritual strength in difficult moments.
FANNY MATUS
IF IT'S A WOMAN, THEN SHOULD WE TAKE IT?, 2024
Supervisor: Judit Ducsai
Consultant: Anna Börcsök, László Marosi
The final assignment investigates women's relationship with their own and their female partners' body hair. Basically, it is a very deep-rooted social phenomenon that starts with reactions to body hair and continues with the compulsion to remove body hair. The 5 phases of the relationship system are illustrated in the supplementary series, where we gradually progress from full coverage to learning, to acceptance itself.
ANNA PANKO
Submergence, 2024
Supervisor: Judit Ducsai
Consultant: Anna Börcsök In recent decades, we have been discovering more and more, but the world of our seas remains an unknown cosmos interwoven with mysticism. This foreign environment provides a suitable basis for the proliferation of various phobias and fictional stories. The completed bags respond to the fear of large bodies of water and display the emotions of an anxious person. We, who enter these environments, always remain the same, only fear, darkness and a sense of space grow around us.
ESTHER POLLERMANN
Step by step, 2024
Supervisor: Judit Ducsai
Consultants: Anna Börcsök, László Marosi
The central elements of the collection are the connection of materials and the transformation of human walking. He designed unique shoe shapes, initially uncomfortable and non-functional, made almost entirely of wood. As we progress through the pieces of the collection, the shoes become more and more comfortable and usable, until finally the last pair is completely finished and ready to wear.

The conceptual glasses and storage collection focuses on everyday stress and its prevention. Symbolic objects can create personal rituals. The main goal is to arouse children's joy and curiosity. I want someone's first reaction to see these glasses to be one of surprise and curiosity

La Resistance, 2024
Supervisor: Anna Börcsök
Consultants: Judit Ducsai, László Marosi
The final assignment entitled "Resistance" examines domestic violence. Interviews with the volunteers of NANE, Nők a Nőkért Együtt of the Association Against Violence helped to create a more complete, comprehensive picture. They gave us a glimpse into the perspective of those involved.
The three unique pieces of jewelry made of paper porcelain and leather have symbolic significance. The pendant part of the necklace reflects "violence", with slap and punch marks, and the word "provocative" is placed on the third pendant. All three cases look similar, but their contents are different, but one thing still connects the wearers of the jewelry, and that is violence.
It can be picked purchased at the FISE Gallery during opening hours.

A few words about the Association:
FISE, an independent professional organization, has been supporting the careers of industrial artists for 42 years: by providing exhibition opportunities, continuous information, and advocacy. The membership is divided into 10 professions, the association is managed by an elected management. FISE also operates a gallery in Kálmán Imre Street in the heart of Budapest, next to the Mátranováki Alkotóháza, its office and 4 studios. Here, we organize exhibitions every three weeks, where members can introduce themselves to the professional and wider public. From time to time, we accept invitations from abroad and organize study trips. We help realize the artistic goals of our members, so there are more and more people who started out as FISE members and have now become internationally recognized creators of Hungarian culture and art.

Jewelry exercises - Paraphrase and exhibition as a method in art education
"I consider it an important task to get to know the artists and works of the Hungarian contemporary jewelry scene, to present them at an exhibition, and to expand and deepen the knowledge of artist students and prepare reflections.
My course at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Pécs was addressed to the students of metalwork and ceramic design of the Basic Design course and the painting students studying in the undivided training. The Jewelry Practices course was an experimental field and an exciting challenge for the comparison and supportive coordination of different art fields and creative work processes. During the two spring semesters, the students created paraphrases of individual jewelry pieces from the FISE Collection. The results of the work of the first semester were presented in October 2023 at the Nádor Gallery in Pécs. The entire material will now be on display at the exhibition opening at the FISE Gallery - together with the works created this year.
The students were connected to the chosen jewelry according to an essential aspect and could think about the genre of pendants or necklaces. The detailed session is presented in their creative journal. The course also provided space for practicing creative text writing. The students' works were included in the Student Work section of the FISE Collection."

FISE - Design Galaxy - exhibition at “Lábasház” in Sopron
The basic goal of FISE is to promote applied art and design, and to present our works throughout the country, outside the walls of our gallery. In recent years, FISE has hosted exhibitions in Eger, Győr, Pannonhalma, Szombathely, and Hévíz. After the exhibition in Pécs last October, we are now organizing a large-scale exhibition in Sopron based on our Contemporary Art Collection.
The collection, made up of the works of the most famous domestic artists, is able to provide a complete overview of the processes and trends in the areas covered by the members of the community, as it displays all disciplines (interior architecture, design, ceramic-porcelain, clothing, clothing accessories, goldsmithing, textile design, glass, visual communication). The continuous, versatile presentation of the collection - both in Hungary and abroad - definitely provides exciting and invigorating discoveries for all visitors.

Metaphor Visual Play (The World of Meta-images Through Surrealistic Illusion) - Solo Show of Chang Sik Kim
The exhibition will be opened by:
Péter Bence Simon
Red Dot award-winning typographer, adjunct professor at the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design
Exhibition opening event: April 18, 2024 from 6 p.m
Location: FISE Gallery, Kálmán Imre street 16., 1054 Budapest, HUNGARY
On view: until April 23, 2024, Monday to Friday from 13:00 to 18:00
At the opening of the exhibition, Chang Sik Kim will personally give an introductory talk on his past and recent works and his world-renowned curatorial and conference organizing work.
Chang Sik Kim is a professor at San Jose State University (USA), a typographer, and a creative director at Vol-So Design. His specialty is brand and information design, and typogram (type and image integration), particularly in the use of visual metaphors and methodologies to conceptualize complex ideas.
Chang was the recipient of the Presidential Prize in the National Design Awards in Korea. He has published three complete books, written multiple articles, and held fifteen solo exhibitions in Spain, the United Kingdom, Poland, Hungary, Armenia, Japan, Korea, and the United States. Professionally, he has designed several newspapers, magazines, and more than 150 book covers, in addition to creating many successful character (mascot) and brand designs, as well as several typeface designs for Korean and Latin alphabets for branding projects. He has also served as a juror for several international design competitions such as "Poster for Tomorrow," "Granshan," "Wow Design Festa," and "ideec," among others. Chang’s clients have included Samsung, Yahoo, Hyundai Motors, Hammer Theatre, HP Computer, and Amazon, among others. His research papers and works have appeared in professional conferences and publications, including Graphis, Print, How, MAC World Korea, and Baseline magazines, as well as international conference journals like ICOGRADA, Granshan, AIGA, and Munich Design Week.
The Artist’s exhibition concept:
Typogram is a visual pun through typographic play. I love to play with signs, symbols, and icons. I was also fascinated by a similar element of visual play with types and images known as expressive typogram. This visual expression empowers memorable, symbolic, and conceptual messages to its audience. The compelling optical illusion with dual meanings may enjoyably communicate concepts. It has been a great interest of mine and an inspirational element for my work and teaching philosophy since I become a graphic designer and an educator later. Often, this would manifest in my client projects’ such as logotype, branding design, mascots, or graphics/illustrations on book designs.
The exhibition will be opened by: Szilvia Csanádi-Bognár, esthete, art historian, university assistant professor
Institute of Art and Design Theory

METU Craft & Design - The future generation (Award winners of the Craft and Design section of the 36th OTDK from METU)
The creative person reflects on himself and the world from a special point of view. He constantly refines this reflection, first with his master - this creates a special master-student dialogue. At some point, creative thinking has to step out of the comfort zone and show itself in front of professional discussions and in public, and prove its vitality and right to exist.
An excellent forum for this is the scientific student conference, in the Art and Art Science Section, many young talents from the country's higher education institutions compared their knowledge. Creative talent was honored by 12 award-winning projects in the Craft and Design departments of the Budapest Metropolitan University. The Studio of Young Artists offered the first, second and third place winners the opportunity to introduce themselves as a special prize.
The students of the university's Department of Fashion and Textiles and Department of Architecture and Design present contemporary life feelings, socially and environmentally conscious problems, and everyday situations with their individual vision. They ask questions, curiously research, experiment, and look for the best solution. Just as many generations have done. Their vision is always the latest, their questions are relevant, and their answers echo the past and the future at the same time. They bravely touch on very personal topics, talk about evidence that pushes the boundaries of banality or dissect a traditional culture. Operating with traditional techniques, they reach for completely unusual materials, creating a surprising effect, or even take apart the usual forms and turn them upside down, achieving unexpected results. In their thinking, the concept of the obvious loses its limits, in their creative attitude, the future lies unnoticed in their curiosity and openness.
At the exhibition, we see chairs, benches, clothes, textiles, and bags, but behind them, we are faced with a forward-looking, researching gaze. This exhibition is a snapshot of the future generation of designers.

At the end of the year 2020, with the support of the Hungarian Academy of Arts, the applied arts collection of the Studio of Young Applied Artists Association was created! There are currently 105 outstanding works by FISE members in the unique collection. In the future, we will make it visible to the general public both at home and abroad!
This year, the season starts again with the introductory group exhibition of the newly recruited members at the FISE Gallery. Artists who were accepted during last year's admission procedure will present themselves to the association's community and the wider public in their first joint exhibition.
In this case, the compilation turns out to be exciting, as the works of artists from many fields and in many different situations are placed next to each other, and they form a collaboration open to new dialogue in the space of the gallery.
