Transformation - Exhibition of the creative jewelry specialization diploma of the Fashion and Textile Department of the Budapest Metropolitan University
Opening on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at 6 p.m.
At the opening, Dr. György Árpád Hunor delivers the greeting
university assistant professor, METU design artist, head of the master's program
It can be viewed until July 19, 2024, from Monday to Friday from 14:00 to 18:00
Within the framework of the three-year training, the emphasis was on design training, where after the first foundation year, students learned the technologies of leather and metalwork and learned about a complex negotiation process. The main goal of the training is to find individual paths and to deepen the designer's thinking, for which the METU Fashion and Textile Department provided many special cooperation opportunities. It provided an opportunity for newly graduated students.
The exhibition titled Transformation presents the diploma theses of the Creative Jewelry specialization students who graduated in 2024 and the most important points of the path they have taken.
A special thank you to the staff of the Department of Fashion and Textiles, the Bachelor of Arts and Crafts Design specialization, and to everyone who helped and contributed to the special projects: Renátó Árpás, Anna Börcsök, Judit Ducsai, Gaál Gyöngyvér, Katalin Jermakov, László Marosi, Orsolya Poppre, Erika Rejka and many others.

Alternative keepsake collection consisting of 3 pieces of jewelry and 3 storage cases. What would happen if the moment was lost, if it was erased? What will we remember for posterity? In what alternative amulets and talismans would the present age of humanity be preserved? In what rocks would people find the imprints of a certain generation in the future?

The final task examines the relationship between light and form known in architecture. With the help of translucent raw materials, the bracelets create an effect that deforms and highlights the proportions of the chosen body part, showing new dimensions under the influence of light. It is complemented by columns that store jewelry, which shape the view into a sculpture.

Illusions, 2023
Supervisor: Katalin Jermakov
Consultant: Orsolya Poppre
He investigated the impact of expectations and social pressure on people's body image and self-image. Many people struggle with symptoms of body dissatisfaction and body dysmorphia, which have a negative impact on their psychological and emotional well-being. In the designed objects, bodily defects are presented in a playful and caricature manner, thereby pointing out that every person has unique features and beauty flaws. Accessories encourage people to dare to step out of the rigid framework of beauty ideals and accept and celebrate their own uniqueness.

A jewel within a jewel, 2024
Supervisor: Judit Ducsai
Consultant: Anna Börcsök
The final assignment is about the relationship between time and sport. The jewelry in the jewelry series consists of four bronze jewelry and the wooden cases organically connected to them. The pieces intended for athletes function as jewelry in which, unlike a medal, they can be worn on a daily basis. The wearer of the jewelry is inspired by personalized memories under the QR code inside the object, their own athletic successes, and inner spiritual strength in difficult moments.

IF IT'S A WOMAN, THEN SHOULD WE TAKE IT?, 2024
Supervisor: Judit Ducsai
Consultant: Anna Börcsök, László Marosi
The final assignment investigates women's relationship with their own and their female partners' body hair. Basically, it is a very deep-rooted social phenomenon that starts with reactions to body hair and continues with the compulsion to remove body hair. The 5 phases of the relationship system are illustrated in the supplementary series, where we gradually progress from full coverage to learning, to acceptance itself.

Supervisor: Judit Ducsai
Consultant: Anna Börcsök In recent decades, we have been discovering more and more, but the world of our seas remains an unknown cosmos interwoven with mysticism. This foreign environment provides a suitable basis for the proliferation of various phobias and fictional stories. The completed bags respond to the fear of large bodies of water and display the emotions of an anxious person. We, who enter these environments, always remain the same, only fear, darkness and a sense of space grow around us.

The central elements of the collection are the connection of materials and the transformation of human walking. He designed unique shoe shapes, initially uncomfortable and non-functional, made almost entirely of wood. As we progress through the pieces of the collection, the shoes become more and more comfortable and usable, until finally the last pair is completely finished and ready to wear.

Supervisor: Anna Börcsök

The final assignment entitled "Resistance" examines domestic violence. Interviews with the volunteers of NANE, Nők a Nőkért Együtt of the Association Against Violence helped to create a more complete, comprehensive picture. They gave us a glimpse into the perspective of those involved.
The three unique pieces of jewelry made of paper porcelain and leather have symbolic significance. The pendant part of the necklace reflects "violence", with slap and punch marks, and the word "provocative" is placed on the third pendant. All three cases look similar, but their contents are different, but one thing still connects the wearers of the jewelry, and that is violence.
It will be opened by: Eszter Zámori, head of the Jewelery Practices course and curator of the exhibition

Jewelry exercises - Paraphrase and exhibition as a method in art education
"I consider it an important task to get to know the artists and works of the Hungarian contemporary jewelry scene, to present them at an exhibition, and to expand and deepen the knowledge of artist students and prepare reflections.
My course at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Pécs was addressed to the students of metalwork and ceramic design of the Basic Design course and the painting students studying in the undivided training. The Jewelry Practices course was an experimental field and an exciting challenge for the comparison and supportive coordination of different art fields and creative work processes. During the two spring semesters, the students created paraphrases of individual jewelry pieces from the FISE Collection. The results of the work of the first semester were presented in October 2023 at the Nádor Gallery in Pécs. The entire material will now be on display at the exhibition opening at the FISE Gallery - together with the works created this year.
The students were connected to the chosen jewelry according to an essential aspect and could think about the genre of pendants or necklaces. The detailed session is presented in their creative journal. The course also provided space for practicing creative text writing. The students' works were included in the Student Work section of the FISE Collection."

Layers // Exhibition of jewelry artist Natasa Litvin and photographer Réka Ágnes Tóth
Opening on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at 6 p.m.
The exhibition will be opened by Ildikó Fazekas, design and art manager.
It can be viewed until July 5, 2024, from Monday to Friday from 13:00 to 18:00.
//Layers//
Natasa Litvin is a jewelry artist, she investigates from social science points of view and thinks in terms of systems. She creates her subjects on the subject of relationships and connections, along marginal boundaries and complex associations. For her, the driving force is the expression of self-identity and value creation, all without having to compromise on different materials.
Réka Ágnes Tóth focuses on continuous experimentation, on feelings, movements and perspectives. In her photos, she uses the tool of manipulation, which creates new perspectives and impressions.
In her style, she follows the ambitious, minimalist stance, and composes her compositions consciously. Ágnes wants to present impressive and emotional visions to her audience.
The title of the exhibition is "Layers". Its specialty is that it is matrix-like both vertically and horizontally, i.e. the exhibition within the exhibition, based on layers of each other, creates processes and fabric. The objects, photos, and themes of the exhibition can be "consumed" separately as an independent exhibition, but together they form a unity.
The essence of the exhibition is the complexity of the three themes of Soul, Body, Spirit, such as "Soul Bubble", "Body Tissues" and "Spirit Gateway". It conveys emotional patterns, impressions, impressions brought and acquired in narrative jewelry and photos.
(in)direct message - Csenge Diriczi, Csaba Molnár, Anna Sümegh and Luca Zsiga Ujvári exhibition of goldsmiths
Opening on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at 6 p.m.
The exhibition will be opened by design and art manager Ildikó Fazekas.
On view until March 8, 2024, from Monday to Friday from 2 to 6 p.m.
All four of us approached the topic of self-discovery from different aspects.
- Csenge Diriczi's jewelry attempts to process and reframe internal processes such as the difficulties of growing up without emotional security, as well as the acceptance of constant change that goes hand in hand with human existence.
- Csaba Molnár's objects break out of the individual's protective shell towards the community as a message through a personal symbol system.
- Anna Sümegh displays her inner dialogues in her series of postcard collages and poetic graphics, and examines the interwoven circles of anxiety.
- Luca Ujvári-Zsiga created experimental installations that map the causes of procrastination through the reinterpretation of the artist's personal objects.

Contemporary Jewelry Week Budapest 2022 / Exhibition Series September 12 - 18
Budapest will be the capital of contemporary jewelry for a week!
This September, the capital will once again be the capital of contemporary jewelry. The Contemporary Jewelry Week Budapest (BJW), previously known as the Night of Jewelry, will be held for the eighth time between September 12-18, 2022, organized by the goldsmiths of FISE!
The most important goal of the event is to popularize the genre of contemporary jewelry as widely as possible, giving domestic and foreign artists the opportunity to present their latest works. The program series operates on a biennial theme, and as in every even-numbered year, this fall, interested parties will be able to encounter exhibitions and programs organized in connection with the event at more than twenty locations throughout Budapest, as well as at the Mana Gallery in Szentendre and the Ezüstláz Gallery in Pécs.
During the week-long series of events, in addition to individual or group exhibitions by Hungarian artists, the internationally announced competition material will also be presented, hosted by the Hybridart Space Gallery, one of the best venues in the city center.
This year's slogan is: PARADOX. The one-person jury for the competition material is one of the most prominent and influential figures in contemporary jewelry design, the Dutch Gijs Bakker. This is certainly one of the reasons why this year's call for applications exceeded all previous ones. We can therefore be sure that an exceptionally exciting and meaningful exhibition awaits the audience. The competition material, the PARADOX exhibition pieces, will be on display from September
Due to the great interest in previous years, there will also be guided tours of the venue this year, where the organizing team will take visitors around, allowing them to take a deeper look at the competition material on display.
The same space will also host the presentation of glass and jewelry designer Márta Edőcs’ series, created especially for the event. Part of the proceeds from the sale of the jewelry will support the future operation of the event.
We take great care to organize valuable programs for the wider public as well as for the creative community, which can help the professional development of artists. This year, interested parties can participate in several lectures, workshops and portfolio reviews. It is a great privilege that Gijs Bakker, who is participating as a jury, will delight the domestic audience with a personal presentation at the Three Ravens Café in the heart of the city center. Another guest of the event, Charon Kransen, a New York art collector and curator, will talk about the collaboration with the artists in an online presentation, and will even hold a professional consultation for domestic designers on an application basis. This year's third speaker, internationally acclaimed artist and book author Daniela Malev, will also visit Hungary and, in addition to her professional report, she will provide an insight into her design attitude within the framework of a five-day workshop at the Kredenc Studio between September 19-23, during which participants can enrich their practical experience.
In addition to the aforementioned events, it is important to highlight that each of the individual or group exhibitions will also have its own program during the jewelry week, where interested parties can personally meet the artists and their works. Throughout the entire program series, a map specifically related to the event will make it easy to navigate between the programs, on which all locations and important dates will be found.
On Friday, September 16, the main program of the event will take place, where the valuable and meaningful awards will be presented in a ceremonial setting to the creators of the related exhibitions and the exhibitors of the Paradox competition material. The awards include numerous foreign exhibition opportunities and valuable gift packages, which enable the establishment of new professional relationships and the birth of new works of art. The pearl-shaped porcelain award, which has become known as the trademark of the event, was made by ceramic artist Katalin Herter this year as well. It can be visited until September 25.
What is new is that this year, enthusiastic interested parties can also try themselves as creators at the workshop of jewelry designer Veronika Fazekas, in the Kastner Kommunity community space, on Saturday, September 17, between 10 am and 2 pm.

The exhibition held in FISE Gallery is Eszter Sára Kocsor’s first solo exhibition. The showcased Mirror in Mirror collection came to life when the designer spent an Erasmus semester in Hildesheim, Germany. Her stainless steel jewelleries are made with a point welding laser, put together piece by piece with utmost precision. Some jewelleries feature zirconia stones and various gems in their center. In a recent interview the designer describes her emotional connection to the collection as follows:
“I had to realise that these jewelleries symbolise myself and the path where I’m trying to find myself. I wanted to define myself as precisely as possible. I have always been a bit insecure, however, while creating, I have always felt a deep knowledge and determination of what I want to do. My jewelleries are symbols of that determination and dedication I always wanted to feel inside me.”
