Ceramics and porcelain design

Touches and fractures - exhibition of object designer ceramic artist Antal Balázs

Opening on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at 6 p.m.
It will be opened by: Eszter Szabó, editor-in-chief of Lakáskultúra magazine.

Touches and fractures
"Balázs Antal is a ceramic artist who pairs, integrates and arranges the touch of material, conscious creative decisions and the coincidences that arise during the creation process into mini installations. He explores objects distorted by touch, both directly and indirectly, and pairs them here and there with exact forms. The artist presents compositions and at the same time impressions to the viewer and connects with him.
Material and thought are experiments in the usability of the useless, in the search for expression. An effort to recreate touch as gesture and fracture as irreversible change."

systemERR-OR?
The theme of the exhibition is system monitoring. The artists are using similar materials but approach it from a different perspective, wich results in different shapes. They are playing with the systems connections and disintegrations to create the composition of the objects. This is how they break apart from reality and interpret further the built constructions as abstract works of art.

Don't be grounded! Try aiming to reach higher levels. What can we find up there? I dont know, but it could be different then down here. Our goal was to find new directions and a pathes with the jof of discovering unknown areas. Cutting off from reality was kept as principal, the free creativity guided our artistic aprroach. Playing with themes like time, space, dimensions, colors and light formed the concept of this exhibition. Imagine with us not keeping convencions, leave the ground or the planet Earth. Do fly! Freely, without effort. Feel this mood, be independent in all kinds.

MAMO / 2021 - Joint exhibition of Anita Monori and Márton Strohner
The exhibition will be opened by: Zoltán Lublóy - ceramic artist
The exhibition can be viewed: October 2021. November 26 12.

A selection of the first and second year works of the MMA scholarship of ceramic artist Anita Monori and the series A-LAMP and BASIC Vase 2021 by ceramic artist / designer Márton Strohner. The friendship of the two artists dates back more than 15 years, during which time their professional paths were formed in parallel several times, they both created their own brand and now decided to present their latest works in a joint exhibition.

-
Anita Monori presents some of her work from the first two years of her MMA Art Fellowship, the results of her experiments with digital technologies.
Anita is no stranger to combining modern technology with traditional methods, but so far he has only used them as tools.
The essence of the work created during the MMA scholarship is that digital technology not only creates but also influences objects. Following this line of reasoning, he uses the "traces" of the tool used to make the surface of the objects.
The technology used in the first year was CNC milling, so its rough steps make the already interesting design world even more exciting. During the second year, 3d printing was the technology of choice, the filling structures of which give the pattern of the subject group.
-
In recent years, the focus of Márton Strohner's creative work has been on the theme of lamps / light-objects. The lamp / light object as a category in the Home Decor has now grown into a very emphatic and defining element of contemporary design, including porcelain design. Their role is also very significant from a representational point of view. In the case of a mood lamp, the focus is not on 100% functionality (not primarily a light source) but rather on creating the mood. To create his modern-minimalist objects, he uses techniques based on classic European porcelain-making traditions, and he wants to match them to the demand and quality expectations of our time. In this way, it seeks to create a connection between the traditional and the modern, this logical system is based on respect for the classical craft tradition, reinterprets it, and thus ensures the survival of the tradition in the present and in the future.

Opening: Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at 6 p.m.

The exhibition is opened by: Réka Borka, writer and poet.
Design and art theorist, PhD student at MOME.

It can be viewed until September 3, 2021, Monday through Friday from 1 to 6 p.m.

With 14 years behind him in the ceramics profession, Matthew mastered all the technologies of this broad-spectrum craft. However, the accumulation of many, many experiences did not result in him casting his vote in favour of a particular trend. He finds overlaps between technologies, the action of a gypsum-carved porcelain mold and coarse chamotte clay interacts with him, and thanks to his extensive knowledge, he boldly pushes these boundaries and touches on different materials. In addition to technology, Máté is inspired by people, objects and impressions, and he can incorporate this into the tasks he receives, such as for a rehabilitation kit designed for the blind. In addition, the various processes fit well together in space and time.

In addition to his independent artistic activity, he considers it important to exist in the community, he is a founding member of the CriminalCraft creative group. Through the group, he came closer to the high-temperature wood-fired combustion process. His second solo exhibition features a selection of objects from last year made with this technique, burned in their kiln built in Zebegény, designed by Éva Kádasi. In addition to the types of objects that have become commonplace in the profession, works of art that have almost lost their functionality appear, thus opening another frontier to the fine arts. Proximity to nature is a feature of technology and this can be seen in the objects exhibited here. The creator’s goal is to control the surfaces formed by the flame and not to hide behind the aesthetics of “chance”. The objects created in this way do not blend into their environment, but demand space for themselves.

The exhibition will be opened by: Péter Kemény, ceramic artist, assistant professor.
It is available until Monday, Friday, August 6, 2021, from 1 to 6 p.m.
with an exact date, no later than the day before the planned visit: iroda@fise.hu

"Ice cream while traveling?"
Dóra Knetik graduated as a ceramic and porcelain designer in 2013 at the Moholy-Nagy University of Arts. His dissertation is the 'Ice Cream in Space' porcelain ice cream set, which has been featured in several group exhibitions, such as the Museum of Applied Arts, Hall of Art, Milan Design Week. Now, thanks to the Studio of Young Designer Association, it will be presented for the first time in a solo exhibition, a little differently than before. She decorated the set with stickers, giving it a new look that marks the beginning of a next era. There are many techniques for decorating porcelain, for Dora this is just the first step to develop her skills in other forms in the future. Furthermore, the exhibition presents the works made for 'Lajos Kozma Scholarship for Applied Arts and Crafts', which was also inspired by the ice cream theme, precisely the wafer funnels. Using 3D printing, she created her core shapes and transformed them into porcelain. 3D design was an unfamiliar field to her, but she accomplished the challenge to the best of her knowledge. The effect of colored ice cream dumplings is reflected in the fact that she prefers to color the porcelain mass. She likes to see how the character and the mood of the shape changes, when she changes the colors. She is currently working on a new path, a new project, as a scholar, where she is expanding her professional and personal boundaries.

He lives and works in Hungary, Budapest. He studied at University of West Hungary. That was the place where he fell in love with ceramics. His intention is to create objects that do everyone's heart good especially form porcelain. The functionality is also an important part of his design process and he’s intent on putting some trick, some 'spice' in his objects. He likes to give the people a 'discovery experience' and a 'home feeling’ at the same time with his works. The Porceland exhibition of Balázs shows of his world.

The professional trainings in ceramics and glassmaking at the Jaschik Álmos Vocational High School go back several decades. The former vocational training has been transformed into art education for more than a decade. The exhibition provides an insight into the contemporary work of these art courses. We respect and continue the traditions of the profession, but in addition to teaching them, we try to provide insights into domestic and foreign contemporary trends in our subject trainings, giving our students the opportunity to try out the widest possible range of techniques.

The works of current and former students will be on display in the exhibition, as well as students participating in the newly launched first evening glassworker training.
