Opening on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at 6 p.m.
It will be opened by: Eszter Szabó, editor-in-chief of Lakáskultúra magazine.

Touches and fractures
"Balázs Antal is a ceramic artist who pairs, integrates and arranges the touch of material, conscious creative decisions and the coincidences that arise during the creation process into mini installations. He explores objects distorted by touch, both directly and indirectly, and pairs them here and there with exact forms. The artist presents compositions and at the same time impressions to the viewer and connects with him.
Material and thought are experiments in the usability of the useless, in the search for expression. An effort to recreate touch as gesture and fracture as irreversible change."

On May 20-21 and 27-28, the exhibition of the FISE - Young Industrial Artists Studio Association will also be available to view in the Kristály Színtér.

Among the unique works are paintings, drawings, posters, but also works made with a reproduction graphic process, as well as special graphic publications, prints, designs and realized image materials. The formation of the text from letters and by letters, as well as the visual representation of the content to be said, are both closely and inseparable from the text and play an equal role in the reception of the written content.
We hope that the material of the exhibition will awaken new thoughts in the viewers, and even if they do not judge a book by its cover, they will look at these works of visual culture with different eyes.

"In 2023, Budapest will also become the Book Capital. We shape reading into an experience, a community activity."

Deciphering ceramics
Kinga Evelin Várbiró is a ceramic artist who not only identifies the universal problem of our times, the immense challenge and effort to concentrate in a world of permanent impulses but using her instruments of art she communicates her short announcements of common values in lasting materials rather than using vanishing text messages. Her creative process is motivated by the wish for a simpler and more understable world and in the chaotic daily life.

Turzó Kristóf, a graphic designer, presents a modular typeface system, identity design based on typography, and experimental letterforms. The letters appear as illustrative elements in his works, often pushing the boundaries of legibility and prioritizing experimentation and visual storytelling over information conveyance.

It can be picked purchased at the FISE Gallery during opening hours.

Draw the attention of your friends to our brand new catalog as well as our FISE history book! The operation of our Association can also be supported by purchasing these and our other previous publications.

"Design is like a fish in water - the story of the Studio of Young Industrial Artists"
Book by Tibor Kránitz and Róbert Mascher

How did it start? How was it possible to organize 720 exhibitions and events? Who were the 1595 artists who started their careers at FIS?

Our book, which has just been published, seeks answers to such and similar questions, and documents the history and current situation of our independent organization for posterity. In the first chapters, our readers can learn about the formation of our professional community, and then we will present its operation and the place where we organize our exhibitions. We deal with our activities in separate sections, where we recall some prominent movements from the beginning to the present day. In the continuation, we will commemorate the first four decades of the association by publishing publications, curiosities, photo compilations, and finally we will publish databases to fill gaps, the list of all the members of FISE up to now and their statements.
At our book presentation exhibition opening on February 15th, you can get your hands on the 304-page work, with the help of which we hope we managed to make visible and capture how FISE helps designers to live like a fish in water!

Origin of non-existent species - exhibition of textile artist Vanda Berecz
Meeting of leather creatures Haeckel and Dall-E

Opening: Tuesday, April 18, 2023, 6 p.m.
The exhibition will be opened by architect Veronika Kata Vizi - May tree project.

It can be viewed until May 5, 2023, from Monday to Friday from 13:00 to 18:00.

What do the leather industry, Ernst Haeckel, and artificial intelligence have in common?

Since 2020, Vanda Berecz has been making small sculptures mainly from animal skin and fur. The exhibition The Origin of Nonexistent Species presents the transformation of these materials through a playful experiment.
Various skins and furs partially lose their natural properties during industrial processing: the artificially produced colors and the finishing process that removes surface damage result in a homogenized surface that looks almost like plastic.
The small sculptures made of geometric elements reflect organic structures found in nature. Their species cannot be identified, they also contain the characters of plants, sea animals, fungi and vertebrates.
The evolution of artificial species created purely for artistic reasons took place in virtual space. The artefacts documented in the studio photos from the top view show a picture similar to the 19th century natural science representation. Based on the photos, Dall-E, the artificial intelligence developed by OpenAI, created additional virtual individuals.
By organizing the variations generated by Dall-E into tableaus, after digital post-processing, graphics evoking the atmosphere of Haeckel's lithographs were created, which visitors can view in print, exhibited together with the original works.

LEATHER x LETTER exhibition - The meeting of the bag designer and the graphic artist
Joint exhibition of Enikő Horn /ENIHORN/ and Anikó Székffy /ATIPO/

The exhibition will be opened by Daniella Koós.
It can be viewed until April 6, 2023, from Monday to Friday from 13:00 to 18:00.

Enikő Horn, designer and owner of the 10 years old ENIHORN brand. She became maker of leather goods in 1992, and much later she graduated in 2009 in BA in fashion design at the faculty of Mod'Art International, a French design and education college in Budapest. In 2013, after graduated in a bag design course in Milan, she launched her first collection of clothes and bags, where clothes were the accessories for the bags. She opened her showroom of the ENIHORN brand in 2014 in Budapest, VI., Izabella Street 45.
In FISE Gallery's 'BŐR x BETŰ - LEATHER x LETTER’ exhibition, Enikő Horn's close relationship with environmental protection and recycling for decades, as well as the printing techniques often used until the beginning of the 2000s, the old Gutenberg’s printing press and the smell of printing ink gave Enikő Horn the inspiration, which is now brought Anikó Székffy and her together at the same exhibition.
Years ago, the designer was given some leather with many defects on the surface, which she could not use it and kept until today. Now, with printing ink and the possibility of poster printing, she re-enchanted the skins, for beautiful, wearable creations. She also experimented with neoprene material left over from tailoring waste. The mood of the green, eosin-effect skins presented at the exhibition alongside the 'pieces with letters' reflects the fact that in today's world we could love again the fragmented, old-looking, worn-out objects dressed in a new design.

Anikó Székffy was born into a family of pringers, illustrators, typographers and graphic designers (literally, all relatives are connected to the profession in some way). As a child, she played with letraset, tracing paper and mechanical pencils, and regularly (to this day) sharpening pencils is one of her favourite activities.
She graduated from Printing-technology School, then studied typography from István Kiss at the College of Applied Arts. After graduation she started to work as an entrepreneur, and in 2010 she founded her own business: Atipo Design, where she has been working as an independent graphic designer ever since. For the last ten years, her clientele has consisted mostly of downtown restaurants, and she is working with them daily as graphic designer. She likes special but also traditional solutions. When she picks up a book or flyer, the first thing she does is to smell the paper :) Her passion is her profession and if you ask her what she does for a living, the answer will be: "I'm just putting letters together."
